Achieve Australia is a for-purpose community organisation that has been providing accommodation and services to people with disability for almost 70 years, and we could not be prouder about them signing on as a sponsor.

The business champions social inclusion, focusing on the individual needs and lives of the people the team works with.

Achieve is an NDIS-registered provider, delivering expert disability support services around its offices and hubs in greater Sydney and the Northern Rivers regions of New South Wales.

Achieve Australia has been the proud recipient of many awards and nominated for many more over the years, the latest was making the 2021 AFR BOSS Best Places to Work list!

That says a lot about the business as it has a growing workforce of more than 1100 staff and volunteers!

A couple of features unique to Achieve are its wonderful Sewing Basket and amazing AchievAble Enterprises programs.

The Sewing Basket supplies a wide range of donated fabrics and patterns, patchwork, embroidery materials, knitting and crochet yarn, haberdashery, and more, while providing employment opportunities for people with disabilities from its stores at Newington, Balmain and Kincumber.

The shops have a team of experienced volunteers from the community work alongside the people Achieve supports.

Supported employment provides people with a disability the opportunity to learn valuable job and interpersonal skills and encourages social inclusion in the community.

All stock at The Sewing Basket is donated by the community.

AchieveAble Enterprises is an exciting HACCP-certified operation run by Achieve Australia, based in Newington, offering pack and send services to businesses in and around Sydney and beyond.

AchievAble Enterprises employs people with a disability in steady, meaningful work.

Customers include Snowy Mountains Cookies, Unilever, Finsbury Green and airline catering by dnata. Goods and services packaged and sent range from food packaging and wrapping to kit assembly and labelling and printing!

The company’s services and supports include:

• My Home – Individualised independent living, community and group accommodation services.
• My Career – Development of work skills and facilitation of meaningful employment.
• My Life – Skills building, community participation and the opportunity to pursue passions and hobbies.
• Support Coordination - the team works with participants and families to get the best out of their NDIS plan.

These services are underpinned by a dedicated team who guide people with disability and their families through the NDIS and Achieve’s services.

Disability accommodation and short term accommodation and respite are an important feature of Achieve Australia, along with a valuable drop-in support service.

The team also offers community and lifestyle programs alongside its disability employment and training, which includes AchievAble Enterprises and The Sewing Basket.

Achieve had its humble beginnings back in1952 when a group of parents created a support organisation to care for their children with disability in one facility on donated land in Ryde.

This was the beginning of Achieve Australia. Now, almost seven decades later, their pioneering spirit of innovation, hard work, and dedication to social inclusion still drives the culture and commitment of Achieve. 

Today, Achieve Australia supports hundreds of people with disability across greater Sydney and Northern NSW.
