Creating a Voice for the Disability Sector

The NDIS has done a spectacular job in giving participants more power over how they want to be treated, by giving them more control of their funds. Despite their best efforts, there is still much complexity and confusion, not just from the participants, but from providers being compliant whilst running their businesses effectively.

The National Disability Sector Professional Leadership Body (NDSPLB) has been created to support the NDIS with their initiative to empower participants, by acting as a vehicle to accelerate the rate of positive change in the sector. We’ll achieve this by:

  • Running annual National Disability Sector Professional Development and Practice Survey and research projects, giving Participants, Carers, Guardians and Providers a voice.
  • Sharing the findings of the National Survey to clarify where work needs to be done.
  • Bring together Australia's leading experts, institutions, providers and organisations to raise awareness of key topics that the sector must address.
  • Working collaboratively across the sector to identify, focus and share best practices to benefit everyone associated with the Industry.
  • Create leadership bodies in key areas of practice and think tanks to produce regular solutions to the key challenges we all know exist from the Participants and Providers to better inform the agencies involved.

Together with it’s board, advisory panel experts and steering committee leaders, the NDSPLB will continually address the most pressing questions and challenges that participants, providers and carers are up against. Through its work, the NDSPLB will work with NDIS to bring about needed changes in the sector to ensure frustrations and bottlenecks are relieved one at a time.

The ultimate goal of the NDSPLB is to not just turn Australia into the world leader of disability best practices, but for every Aussie to be proud of the disability sector, as we continually strive for the highest service standards.
